Leitch Report
The Government commissioned Sandy Leitch in 2004 to undertake an independent review of the UK's long term skills needs. The Review published its interim report "Skills in the UK: the long term challenge" in December 2005. It committed the Review, in its final report, to identify the UK’s optimal skills mix for 2020 to maximise economic growth, productivity and social justice.

East Midlands Adult Learners' Awards 2006                        

 

 

  

 

On Thursday 18th May, 330 people joined together, to celebrate the learning achievements of adults from across the region, at the Walkers Stadium in Leicester.

11 regional awards were presented during the evening, including: 5 NIACE 'Individual Learner' awards and 1 'Senior Learner' award, 1 European Social Fund award, 3 Skills for Enterprise 'Learning for Work' awards and 1 Open College Network East Midlands region 'Access to HE Learner of the Year' Award. There were also 15 local awards, awarded by each of the Learning Partnerships in the region. For the second year, the LLCLP coordinated this event. With sponsorship from nextstep for the East Midlands and Skills for Enterprise, as Corporate Sponsors; Leicester College, De Montfort University, New College Nottingham, as Associate Sponsors; and with support from the BBC RaW Campaign and Leicester Sound.

Adult Learners’ Week

ALW is the UK’s largest celebration of learning. It promotes education and training for adults, provides access to information and guidance, motivates more and different adults to participate in learning and celebrates learning achievement. With over a hundred learning opportunities to choose from, don't miss your chance to learning something new or different.....You can do it!

Free taster sessions will be offered at a range of venues across the city and county, giving you the chance to learn such diverse subjects as salsa dancing, French cookery or a new language, flower arranging or digital photography. Or, explore alternative therapies and techniques to help you relax and relieve stress like tai chi, yoga or Indian head massage!

East Midlands Skills for Life CPD website 
This site was launched in May, created to give managers and practitioners, delivering Skills for Life provision in the East Midlands, the opportunity to keep up to date with current developments.
Visit www.eastmidlandscpd.co.uk to register to use the site. You will then be able to access CPD (Continued Professional Development) training opportunities, examples of good practice, current vacancies and SfL teaching materials.  The LLCLP organises and coordinates the delivery of training events in Leicestershire and administers the Leicestershire section of the site.
