Promotion of Lifelong Learning Working Group

Convenor: Marketing and Communications Officer
Organisations involved:

Leicestershire LSC, TUC, Health -NHS Accelerated Learning Programme, Museums, Libraries & Archives East Midlands (MLA), City and County Local Authorities, both city and county FEs and HE, museums and libraries, learndirect, Skills for Enterprise – Ufi Hub, Racial Equality Council, Age Concern East Midlands Training -UK Online Centre, WEA, nextstep, Business Link with support from BBC and NIACE

Purpose:

 

Raising the profile of learning regionally and locally, through linkages with national, regional and local campaigns for learning, developing new local and regional campaigns.

Activity:

The group leads on Adult Learners' Week, by coordinating and organising events across the city and county. Producing learner case studies for the media and own promotional materials. 

Produced 'You can do it!' guide, to help people take the first steps into learning (this has been in circulation for the past 3 years). Most recently, produced a progression booklet called 'Whats Next?', which aims to help those who have just tried learning something new, to continue learning.

The group have hosted the East Midlands Adult Learners Week Awards for the past two years and will again be hosting in 2007.

Reviewing the purpose of the group and membership, since there have been many structural changes within the members organisations.
